Our Core Values

There are some central truths that are a vital part of the life of Refuge Church.  These are areas that are taught on and talked about often.  These are known as our Core Values.  The questions that are listed after each statement are used to help us evaluate how well we’re doing at living these values out each day. Some foundational truths that underly all of these Core Values is the fact that we value a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is cultivated through regularly talking to Him in prayer and spending time in His Word learning more about Him.

1. Messy Ministry

We are called to show Christ’s love to the broken and hurting.  We’ll happily get our hands dirty to love real people with real problems (Mark 2:15)

Q: Are you making a difference in someone else’s life?

2. Authentic Relationships

We are called to love each other, serve each other and hold each other accountable.  We accomplish this best in small group settings. (James 5:16, Proverbs 27:17)

Q: Are you regularly involved in a small group?

3. Developing Leaders

We are called to share what we’ve learned with others.  We will empower and release people to do world changing things for God. (Ephesians 4:11,12)

Q: Who are you pouring your life into regularly?

4. Every Member Ministry

We are called to serve God and others with our unique gifts. We aggressively seek opportunities to use our God-given abilities in the church. (Eph 2:10, I Cor 12:14-18)

Q: Are you consistently serving in a ministry?

5. Simple Living

We are called to follow God in every area of our lives. We constantly evaluate our schedules, commitments, and finances to leave room for God to move in powerful ways. (Matt 6:33)

Q: Is there margin in your life for God to work through you?

6. Intentional Unity

We are called to love one another. We will actively seek to resolve differences with those who have offended us. (Matt 18:15, Heb 13:17)

Q: Are you talking to people instead of talking about them?

7. Generous Giving

We are called to be obedient managers of the money, time and resources God has given us. We will faithfully give all of these to honor God and find personal joy in our own lives. (Luke 6:38)

Q: Are you giving generously of your money, time and resources?

8. Genuine Worship

We are called to a dynamic, personal relationship with God. We will express that relationship through private daily worship and regular corporate worship. (Luke 9:23, Acts 2:46-47)

Q: Are you worshipping God every day?

9. Multiply Everything

We are called to spread God’s Word throughout our community and beyond. We will intentionally multiply everything to impact our world for Him. (Matt 28:19-20)

Q: How are you multiplying your impact each day?
