Through this sermon, we’ll discover how to pray with power. Often we fail to pray because we fail to believe in the power of prayer. We need to ask ourselves, “Do we believe that prayer can make a difference in our lives?” Do we really believe that when we pray, things happen … that when we pray, things change. Do we really believe that when we pray, we invite God to intercede. If we really believed that prayer could change things, we would spend a lot more time praying and talking to God. If we really believed that prayer was powerful, we wouldn’t think about going a day in our lives without praying. So what do you believe?
We can have power in our prayer – not so much because of what we say, but how we say it.
How to pray with power:
- Be sure your heart is in tune with God (v 4)
- Praise God and Confess your sins (v 5-7)
- Draw strength from His word (v 8-9)
- Expect God to act (v 10-11)
- Trust God with the results (v 11)
“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14) In Matthew we’re told that we’re to be a light to a dark world. The only way we can light this world is if we develop a healthy prayer life where we know that we can pray in power. There are times where God is waiting for us to ask before he acts. What is it that you need to change in your life to begin to pray with power?
