Here we have answered some of the main questions we are asked.  If you have other questions or would like to discuss any of these more, we’d love to talk with you!

Why is it called Refuge Church?

Ultimately our goal is to glorify God in all we do and point others to the hope that can only be found in Him through Jesus Christ.  In multiple scriptures throughout the book of Psalm, we find it stated that “The Lord is our Refuge”.  It goes on to say many times that not only is He our refuge, but our strength and our help in times of trouble.  For those who are hurting and hopeless, distressed and in trouble, broken and needing relief we desire to introduce them to the only refuge that can help them.  That refuge is Jesus Christ.  So our church is Refuge Church because ultimately He is our refuge in all things.

Where are you located or where do you meet?

We have a ministry facility located at 220 N Massey Blvd in Nixa. It is just behind Walgreens and McDonald’s. We gather at 10:30 on Sunday mornings for corporate worship.  Additionally, we meet in small groups at various times throughout the week.  We believe the weekend service isn’t what the church is all about, it’s a time to come together to celebrate and worship God as a result of what we have seen Him do and what we have been doing throughout the week.  We highly value private worship and small group involvement for growth and encouragement in this ever changing world.  We would encourage you to experience both of these different types of worship environments. To find a group check out our small group locations page.

What kind of church are you? What religion are you?

There are a lot of people who place value on labels.  If they can understand what label to put on us, they would know who we are.  We feel that labels don’t always describe fully who we are as a church.  Ultimately we’re about a relationship with God rather than a ‘religion’ with traditions that can hinder or even be contrary to scripture.  If you would like to know more about us, check out Our Beliefs, Our Dreams and Our Core Values.

Why do you emphasize small groups in your church?

We desire to be a church made up of small groups rather than a church that merely has small groups as another thing it does.  Through small groups we develop relationships, care for one another, experience the ups and downs of life together, study the Bible together and much more.  These environments will be where ‘life’ takes place in our church.
